It was a cool October day in Innsmouth and then sun was shining above. The air was chill and crisp, like biting into a cold, fresh apple. The birds were singing in the trees above and drfinch, the town's mortician, stood on his front porch with a scowl on his face.

"Hello, doctor! Good morning!"

It was a cheerful voice, high pitched and full of good humor. The good doctor despised that voice.

"It certain is morning, Mrs. Crabtree, but it is anything but good," Dr. Finch responded, his thin, pale lips frowning. "It is that time again."

"Oh?" Mrs. Crabtree asked. An older woman, Mrs. Crabtree was stout and the type of woman that others might describe as "handsome". Her bed and breakfast (and aquarium) was located just across the street and two buildings down from the mortuary and it was her custom to greet the doctor every morning.

"Yes, and you know what that means," the mortician said. "They will be back."

"Oh, dear, well, it couldn't stay quiet here forever," Mrs. Crabtree said generously, giving the doctor a smile.

"No, no it couldn't," drfinch complained before turning around and going back into his mortuary and slamming the door shut behind him. "Damned cultists."
